Kanawha County 


House District 32, in the northern part of the county, elects three members.

House District 31, in Charleston's West End, elects one member.

Carrie Webster earned an F from Life Gauge.  In 2007, as chair of the Judiciary committee, she refused to place SB 544 (close parental consent loophole) on the agenda in the Judiciary committee, thereby killing the bill.  In 2006 she voted against a motion to dispense with committee reference, effectively killing a parental notification bill.  In 2005 she voted against Separate Offense legislation (SB 146) on the floor, after sponsoring a harmful amendment to the bill, and then voting against the bill in committee.  In 2004 she voted against the same bill (SB 566).  She voted against Informed Consent legislation in 2002 and voted against it again in 2003.  She is a Democrat.  Due to her voting record, Life Gauge does not recommend that constituents contact her.


House District 30 (southern Kanawha county) elects seven members.

Senate District 8:

Erik Wells earned an F from Life Gauge.  In 2007 he voted against SB 544, which closed a loophole that allowed minor girls to get abortions without their parents' knowledge.  He is a Democrat.  Due to his voting record, Life Gauge does not recommend that constituents contact him.

Senate District 17:

Brooks McCabe earned an F from Life Gauge.  In 2007 he voted against SB 544, which closed a loophole that allowed minor girls to get abortions without their parents' knowledge.  In 2006 he voted against the parental notification bill on the floor.  He attempted to change his accidental yes vote to a no vote on the floor in 2004 concerning Separate Offense legislation (denied; SB 566 passed 34-0), and voted against Informed Consent legislation in 2002 and 2003.  He is a Democrat whose term ends in 2006.  Due to his voting record, Life Gauge does not recommend that constituents contact him.

Dan Foster earned an F from Life Gauge.  In 2007 he voted against SB 544, which closed a loophole that allowed minor girls to get abortions without their parents' knowledge.  In 2006 he voted against the parental notification bill on the floor.  As a member of the House of Delegates, he voted against Separate Offense legislation in 2004 (SB 566), and voted against an Informed Consent bill (SB 170) on the floor in 2003.  He is a Democrat whose term ends in 2008.  Due to his voting record, Life Gauge does not recommend that constituents contact him.
