A BILL to amend the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto
a new section, designated §33-4-21, relating to prohibiting the payment for
the abortion-inducing drug RU-486 as a benefit under any health care insurance
plan offered by the State to public employees.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a
new section, designated §33-4-21, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 4. GENERAL PROVISIONS.
§33-4-21. No policy of health care insurance offered by the State may pay
benefits for use of RU-486.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the
abortion-inducing drug known as RU-486 may not be included as a benefit under
any health care insurance plan offered by the State to its employees.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit the payment for the
abortion-inducing drug RU-486 as a benefit under any health care insurance plan
offered by the State to public employees.
