House District 44 House District 44 (the northern and eastern parts of Monongalia county) elects four members. Alex Shook earned an F from Life Gauge. As the chair of the Constitutional Revision Committee in the House of Delegates from 1999-2004, and from 2007 until now, she kills every amendment that would stop the state from paying for abortions, and she kills every amendment that would overturn the 1993 court decision that said abortion is a constitutional right in West Virginia. In 1993 she served as an attorney for the National Organization for Women, which was a plaintiff on the side of a Charleston abortion clinic that filed suit against the state in 1992, resulting in the WV Supreme Court decision that made abortion a constitutional right in this state, and that also mandates that taxpayers pay for abortions.
