           Life Gauge

House District 27

House District 27 (Raleigh County and part of Summers County) elects five House members.

John David O'Neal earned a C from Life Gauge.  He was not willing in 2011 to introduce a motion to force a floor vote to overturn the WV Supreme Court's Panepinto decision, which mandates abortion rights and abortion funding in West Virginia.   A Republican, he first served in the 2011 legislature. Rick Snuffer earned a C from Life Gauge.  He was not willing in 2011 to introduce a motion to force a floor vote to overturn the WV Supreme Court's Panepinto decision, which mandates abortion rights and abortion funding in West Virginia.   A Republican, he first served in the 2011 legislature.  To print a letter to Mr. Snuffer, click here.

Ricky Moye earned a C from Life Gauge.  He has been generally uncooperative with Life Gauge, but in 2010 he voted for a motion to discharge a committee, in an attempt to pass a Constitutional Amendment that would stop state funding of abortions, and that would allow us to stop abortion when Roe v Wade is overturned.  This was a difficult vote for a Democrat, which he is.  He first served in the 2007 legislature.  To print a letter to Mr. Moye, click here.

Linda Sumner earned a D from Life Gauge.  Beginning in 2007, every year she refuses to introduce a motion to force a floor vote to overturn the WV Supreme Court's Panepinto decision, which mandates abortion rights and abortion funding in West Virginia.  A Republican, she first served in the 2003 legislature.  You can print a letter to Ms. Sumner by clicking here.

Virginia Mahan earned an F from Life Gauge.  On February 24, 2010 she voted against a motion to discharge a committee, effectively killing a Constitutional Amendment that would stop state funding of abortions, and that would allow us to stop abortion when Roe v Wade is overturned.  In 2006 she voted against a motion to dispense with committee reference, effectively killing a parental notification bill.  In 2005 she voted for a harmful amendment to an Unborn Victims bill (SB 146), then voted against the bill itself (roll call 125).  In 2004 she voted for a harmful amendment to a Separate Offense bill.  She voted for a harmful amendment to Informed Consent legislation in 2003, and she voted against Informed Consent legislation in 2002.  She is a Democrat.
